Below expectations (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Washington, 16 Aug - US housing starts in July slid 6.8% to a seasonally adjusted rate of 1,238,000 from the revised June estimate of 1,329,000 and is 16.0% below the July 2023 rate of 1,473,000, the US Census Bureau and the US Department of Housing and Urban Development said.

Expectations were for housing starts of 1.34 million.
