Lower-than-expected reading (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Washington, 15 Jul - The Federal Reserve Bank of New York's Empire State manufacturing survey fell to negative 6.6 in July from negative 6.0 in June, the Federal Reserve bank of New York said.

Any reading below 0 indicates contraction.

Economists had expected a reading of negative 5.5.

The new orders index rose to negative 0.6 from negative 1.0 in June while the shipment index increased to 3.9 in July from 3.3.
