Smaller than expected (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Washington, 06 Jun - In April, the US trade deficit for goods rose 8.7% month on month to 74.6 billion dollars, according to data released by the US Census Bureau.

Economists were expecting a trade deficit of 76.1 billion dollars.

Imports rose 2.4% to 338.2 billion dollars while exports increased 0.8% to 263.7 billion.

Year-to-date, the goods and services deficit rose 5.5 billion dollars, or 2.0%, from the same period in 2023. Exports increased 32.2 billion dollars, or 3.2%; while imports increased 37.8 billion dollars, or 2.9%.
