Spain preliminary June CPI up 0.3% mth/mth, up 3.4% yr/yr

EU harmonised CPI up 3.5% yr/yr vs up 3.8% in May (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Madrid, 28 Jun - In June, Spain's consumer price index rose a monthly 0.3%, the same rate as in May, and an annual 3.4%, slowing from the 3.6% increase the earlier month, according to preliminary data released by the national statistical office Ine.

The annual slowdown is mainly due to the drop in fuel prices compared with a year ago and, to a lesser extent, food prices that rose less the same year-ago period.

Excluding unprocessed food and energy, core CPI rose 3.0%, the same rate of change as in the earlier month.

The harmonized index of consumer prices, used for European Union purposes, rose a monthly 0.3% and increased an annual 3.5% after rising 3.8% in May.
