Japan May machinery orders ex volatile down adj 3.2% mth/mth

Orders from overseas up 9.1% mth/mth vs up 21.6% in April (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Tokyo, 11 Jul - In May, private sector machinery orders in Japan, excluding volatile ones for ships and from electric power companies, fell 3.2% from April when they contracted 2.9%, according to data released by the Cabinet Office.

In manufacturing, orders rose a monthly 1.0% after slumping 11.3% in April, while in non-manufacturing orders excluding volatile ones dropped 7.5% after rising 5.9% in April.

Orders from overseas rose a monthly 9.1% after jumping 21.6% in April.

In the second quarter, private sector machinery orders excluding volatile ones are still seen down 1.6% from the first quarter when they rose 4.4%.
