Core CPI up 0.3% mth/mth, 2.5% yr/yr (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Tokyo, 21 Jun - In May, the consumer price index in Japan rose 0.4%, the same rate of change as in April, and rose an annual 2.8%, accelerating from the 2.5% seen in the earlier month, according to data released by the Statistics Bureau of Japan.

Excluding fresh food, core CPI rose a monthly 0.3%, the same rate as in April, and increased an annual 2.5%, compared with 2.2% the earlier month.

Excluding fresh food and energy, it was up 0.1% after the 0.3% rise the earlier month and rose an annual 2.1% after 2.4% in April.
