Italy May PPI up 0.3% mth/mth, down 3.5% yr/yr

Domestic PPI up 0.3% mth/mth, down 4.9% yr/yr (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Rome, 27 Jun - In May, industrial producer prices in Italy rose by 0.3% compared to the previous month and were down 3.5% compared to the year earlier after falling at a 5.9% annual pace in April, data from statistics institute Istat showed.

On the domestic market, prices rose by 0.3% month on month in May and fell 4.9% year on year after declining 8.0% on an annual basis in April. Excluding energy, prices rose by 0.2% month on month in May and fell by 1.4% year on year after a 2.1% year-on-year decline in April.

On foreign markets, prices rose by 0.3% month on month, reflecting a 0.2% increase in the eurozone and a 0.3% rise on other markets. Prices declined by 0.8% year on year, with a 1.4% fall for the eurozone and a 0.1% decrease on other markets.
