Italy May non-EU trade surplus 5.771 bln eur

Deficit on energy products narrows to 4.071 bln eur (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Rome , 28 Jun - In May 2024, Italy's trade surplus with non-European Union member states widened to 5.771 billion euros from 4.443 billion the year earlier, data from statistics institute Istat showed.

The deficit for energy products narrowed to 4.071 billion euros from 4.828 billion in May 2023 while the surplus for non-energy goods widened to 9.842 billion from 9.271 billion.

Compared to the month earlier, Italian exports to non-EU countries fell 2.3% while imports from these countries were up 1.4%.

Year on year, Italian exports to non-EU countries inched up 0.1% after rising 13.6% year on year the previous month.

Imports from these countries declined 5.7%.
