Italy May bank loans to private sector down 2.0% yr/yr

Private sector deposits down 0.1% yr/yr (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Rome , 09 Jul - In May, Italian bank loans to the private sector decreased by 2.0% compared to the year earlier after falling 2.2% in April, according to data from the Bank of Italy.

In particular, loans to households fell by 1.1% in May compared to the year earlier after a 1.2% decline in April. Loans to non-financial firms slipped by 3.1% after a 3.4% drop in April.

Private sector deposits in May decreased by 0.1% year on year after falling 1.6% in April. Bond investments increased by 18.8% after a 21.6% increase the previous month, the central bank's data also showed.
