Italy April trade surplus 4.807 bln eur

Trade surplus on non-energy products widens to 8.595 bln eur (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Rome , 14 Jun - In April 2024, Italy's trade surplus widened to 4.807 billion euros from 362 million the year earlier.

The trade deficit on energy products narrowed to 3.787 billion euros from 5.730 billion the year earlier, while the surplus on non-energy products widened to 8.595 billion from 6.092 billion.

In April compared to the previous month, exports rose by 2.3%, with a 3.8% increase on European Union (EU) markets and a 0.8% rise on non-EU markets. Imports were down 1.1%.

Year on year, Italian exports in April 2024 rose by 10.7% in monetary terms, reflecting a 13.6% rise on non-European Union markets and an 8.2% increase in the EU. In volume terms, overall exports rose by 7.9%.

Imports increased by 1.4% year on year, reflecting a 5.4% rise in the EU and a 3.5% decrease on non-EU markets. In volume terms, imports rose by 2.5%.
