Global Aug food prices down 1.1% yr/yr -2-

Vegetable oil, dairy prices rise (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Rome , 06 Sep - The FAO vegetable oil price index rose by 0.8% in August compared to July, reaching a 20-month high as increases in international palm oil prices more than offset declining quotations for soy, sunflower and rapeseed oils.

Dairy prices increased by 2.2% month on month. Prices for wole milk powder increased, driven by a surge in import demand for spot supplies, the FAO said. "International cheese prices also climbed due to higher global import demand, while international butter quotations reached an all-time high fueled by increased uncertainty over the adequacy of milk supplies in Western Europe," it noted.
