German May manufacturing orders down adj 1.6% mth/mth

April manufacturing orders down 0.6%; revised down (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Berlin, 04 Jul - In May, new manufacturing orders in Germany fell a seasonally and calendar adjusted 1.6% from April when they contracted 0.6%, revised from an earlier reading of down 0.2%, according to data released by the federal statistical office Destatis.

In calendar adjusted terms, manufacturing orders fell an annual 8.6% after falling 1.8% in April.

In the three months to May, new orders were 6.2% lower than in the previous three months, which was attributable in part to a large-scale order in December 2023.

When large-scale orders are excluded, new orders in May were down 2.2% on April, and they were 0.8% lower in the three-month period.

Foreign orders declined by 2.8%, with new orders from the non-euro area declining by 4.6% and orders from the euro area falling by 0.1%. Domestic orders rose by 0.5%.
