German govt presents stimulus plan

Aims to lift 2025 GDP by 0.5 pct pts (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Berlin, 05 Jul - The German government presented a stimulus plan aiming to lift GDP growth by 0.5 percentage points in 2025, according to economy minister Robert Habeck.

The package contains nearly 50 measures for households and companies and aims to generate 26 billion euros in additional economic activity.

This year, Germany is expected to have an economic growth of 0.3%, the lowest among major world economies.

Next year, the country's GDP growth is expected to reach 1.5% if the stimulus package is rapidly approved by parliament.

The previous government forecast was for 1.0% growth in 2025.
