French preliminary July manufacturing PMI 44.1 vs 45.3 in June
Preliminary July services PMI 50.7 vs 48.8 in June (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - London, 24 Jul - In July, France's purchasing managers' index (PMI) for the manufacturing sector fell to a six-month low of 44.1 from 45.3 in June, according to preliminary data released by S&P Global and Hamburg Commercial Bank.
The manufacturing output index fell to 44.1 from 45.3 over the period.
The services sector PMI rose to 50.7, a three-month high, from 48.8.
The composite output index, a weighted average of services PMI and manufacturing output, increased to 49.5 in July from 48.2 the previous month, a three-month high.
A reading above 50 signals expanding sector activity and a reading below 50 a contraction.
'The Olympic Games are fuelling the French economy. Business activity increased for French service providers for the first time in three months. According to anecdotal evidence, this is partially due to the Olympic Games. Additionally, companies reported higher output due to the end of the election period, which led to more certainty," said Norman Liebke, economist at Hamburg Commercial Bank.
