France July retail sales up 0.4% mth/mth - Bank of France

3 mths to July retail trade down 0.1% vs earlier 3 mths (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Paris, 22 Aug - In July, retail sales in France rose a seasonally and working-day adjusted 0.4% compared with June when they rose broadly by the same entity, according to data released by the Bank of France.

Sales of manufactured goods rose 0.7% month on month after increasing 0.9% in June while food sales were steady after falling 0.3% the earlier month.

In terms of distribution channels, sales of small retailers fell 0.8% after rising 1.1%, and those of department stores declined at a slower pace of 6.1% after falling 7.3% in June and supermarket sales rose 2.0% after contracting 2.7%.

In the three months to July retail sales dipped 0.1% from the earlier three months due to the 0.2% dip in manufactured goods and the stability of food products.
