EU May new car registrations 911,697 units, down 3.0% yr/yr

Spain only large EU market up in May (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Paris, 20 Jun - In May, new car registrations in the European Union decreased by 3.0% year on year to 911,697 units, according to car manufacturers association ACEA.

In Italy new car registrations fell 6.6%, dropped 4.3% in Germany and 2.9% in France. Among the main four EU countries, Spain was the only one to see a rise, up 3.4%.

Despite the downturn in May, year-to-date car registrations over the first five months of 2024 increased by 4.6% to 8 4,594,493 units. In the five-month period, car registrations were up 6.8% in Spain, up 5.2% in Germany, 4.9% in France and 3.4% in Italy.
