ECB's Knot needs to see more data before any Sept rate cut
Favours gradual easing providing inflation on track for 2% (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - London, 27 Aug - Klaas Knot, head of the Dutch central bank and European Central Bank Governing Council member, said he wants to see more data before deciding on whether to support an interest-rate cut next month.
Knot said he is in favour of gradual easing providing inflation remains on track to return to the ECB's 2% goal next year but he did not comment on the monetary policy meeting scheduled September 12.
'I will have to wait until I have the full data and information going into that meeting to decide my position on whether September is appropriate,' Knot said. 'I would have to do so again in October and December.'.
