Canada May manufacturing sales up 0.4% mth/mth -2-

May manufacturing inventory up 0.2% mth/mth (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Ottawa, 15 Jul - Total manufacturing inventory levels edged up 0.2% month on month to 121.2 billion dollars in May on higher inventories in 10 of 21 subsectors, according to Statistics Canada.

The inventory-to-sales ratio held steady in May, remaining at 1.70. This ratio measures the time, in months, that would be required to exhaust inventories if sales were to remain at their current level.

Total unfilled orders were up 0.8% to 105.5 billion dollars in May, the second consecutive monthly increase.

The capacity utilization rate for the total manufacturing sector rose from 78.4% in April to 80.4% in May due to higher production.
