Total 11.7 bln Canadian dlr (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Ottawa, 12 Jul - In Canada, the total value of building permits was 11.7 billion local dollars in May, down 12.2% from a record high of 13.4 billion in April, according to Statistics Canada.

British Columbia led the national decline in May with a significant drop of 50.7% after experiencing a record high for the total value of building permits issued in April.

Excluding British Columbia, the total value of building permits for the remaining provinces and the territories edged down 0.7% in May.

On a constant dollar basis, the total monthly value of building permits declined 12.5% in May, following a 23.0% increase in April.
