Australia July adj retail sales flat mth/mth, up 2.3% yr/yr

June retail sales up 0.5% mth/mth (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Sydney , 30 Aug - Australian retail sales were unchanged on a seasonally adjusted basis in July compared to the previous month after rising by 0.5% in both May and June, according to data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

Compared to July 2023, retail trade rose by 2.3%.

The only industry posting a monthly rise in July was food retailing, with a 0.2% increase. Household goods retailing and other retailing were both unchanged.

Clothing, footwear and personal accessory retailing had the largest monthly fall, with a 0.5% decline, followed by department sotres (down 0.4%) and cafes, restaurants and takeaway food services (down 0.2%).
